Bad Communication

a weekly podcast out of Japan

Ep. 83 – We Gotta Go to Space! (Bite Size)

We’re back live after a two week break and we’ve got lots saved up for you guys!  Besides the usual news stories from the past few weeks, we talk a bit about Alex’s new anime podcast called Anime Shovel.  Be sure to check it out and push him ever so slightly to start making more.  The break was nice, but it’s good to be back in action!

Bad Communication Ep. 35 – Bite Size

We screw up some of the sweet sound effects coming from Andrew’s new iPad app, but we make up for it in spades with Mully, our guest on the show for this week. There was a lot to talk about this week, and we only get through half of what we were hoping to, but what we did, we did right! We talk about radioactive milk and spinach, a similarly themed pic pick, beautiful sculptures made from recycled chopsticks and do a top 10 weird and bizarre Japanese soft drinks!

News Overflow

It’s gotten to a point where there’s enough going on that it warrants it’s own blog post.  For the past week or so, I’ve been a bit sluggish in responding to messages and maintaining the show, but I’m back from a refreshing weekend trip to the mountains and feeling rejuvenated!

To start with, I’d like to thank everyone who’s been sticking with the show through some of our rough patches the crop up every now and again.  I need to think no further than our USTREAM attempt two weeks ago that was a bit of a disaster.  We were able to get audio and video going out over the web to viewers in Japan and abroad, but we fought with audio issues the entire time and the whole show was drawn out and full of glitches.  We’re working things out every day and things are only going to improve.  Every iteration of Bad Communication brings us closer to perfection!

We also have a huge number of guests scheduled for the next few months and more hoping on board every week.  We’ve got Ed Ovett from Ed’s Mixed Bag, James Francis from Tokyo Trawler, Mully from Warmoth Strat and Amy Chavez from The Japan Times.  You can find the most up to date guest list by clicking here.  As soon as we work out a schedule with those guests in the works, their info will go up in the “Guests on the Show” section of the blog.

In addition to all this guest excitement, we’re working on refreshing the look and feel of the show by changing some of the music and graphics we use on the video and the site.  You can look for pretty huge aesthetic changes happening over the next few months.  I’m pretty exciting to see what things look like come this summer!  In addition to these changes, we’ve also made some graphical changes to our YouTube page and are going to start trying to make more of an effort in this space.  You can find our YouTube page here.

We’re still doing live shows whenever we don’t have a guest lined up, so be sure to hop in chat and type something funny for us to read on the show.  We’ve had a great chat turnout the past few times we’ve done the show live and we’re anticipating a relatively kink-free show this Sunday.  You can check out our live show schedule here and see us live (when we broadcast) on USTREAM here.

One last thing, I promise!  We got some feedback from viewers requesting an audio only version of the show.  Although there are quite a few mp3 players out there that can play just the audio stream of a video file, we wanted to make our stuff available to as many people as possible, so you can now find our full episodes, in mp3 format for download on our “Audio Only” section of the site.  For those of you too lazy to go and find it, here it is!

Thank you all again for being awesome viewers!
