Bad Communication

We’ve got Ian on once again for our first four-person show.  We’ve got tons to talk about this week and we somehow manage to get through everything in this longer-than-usual episode.  Among the stories we’ve got a bit about Pocky Day, J808′s Internet Scavenger Hunt, Project Biwa: the book, the new ASIMO robot by Honda, a very funny YouTube clip of Cerezo Osaka vs. 100 elementary school kids, Google honoring Noble Prize winning scientist, Hideyo Noguchi, tons of messages from you guys, a very funny looking pic pick and the top 47 happiest places to live in Japan. Great show this one was!

• Nice Edition of your Podcast, but i have to disagree in one point: Handhelds won’t disappear unless smartphones solve their battery problems. Everything in one device ist great but it isn’t helpful if you can use it only for several hours. I personally use my DSI XL on long train rides because i want to kill time but be also able to call someone when i arrived. If they keep handhelds reasonably priced we will enjoy them for a long time. Sorry for the long post.. cheers

• Telephones are for calling people. I think some day maybe there will be a great computer that you can carry in your pocket and make calls on, but for right now, I will wait until I get home to my large screen, full size keyboard, quad core, 3 terabyte, computer to do…. computer things. I still carry my phone around though, because I have been told if someone dials the associated number it will ring and I can speak to them… I’m not so sure though.

• I don’t think the Taisho Emperor does have a day although ‘Meiji setsu’ November the 3rd was established after the death of the Taisho Emperor not just after the death of Meiji. In the way it honours both (started in 1927 changed to Culture day in 1948)
